Mount Pleasant

In 1911, James Herbert Simpson built a house on 40 acres by the Canning River, which, because of its shape became known as the Castle on the Hill. Mr Simpson named his home Mt Pleasant and that name is now used for the suburb. Mt Pleasant, like many other nearby suburbs experienced boom times after the completion of the Kwinana Freeway from Perth to Canning Bridge.
